Product Description

In The Swim Pool Winterizing and Closing Chemical Kit

Contents include,

Winter Stain-Away: Specific formula made for winter pool closings. It is able to prevent staining from metals and minerals. It also helps prevent scale formation that is often found around the waterline.

Winterizer Algaecide: Designed to work with all the other items in each Winterizing and Closing Chemical Kit. Winterizer has a proprietary polymer blend providing superior protection against algae. Long lasting formula will ensure it will last all winter.

Chlorine-Free Pool Shock-Oxidizer - Chlorine-Free Pool Shock-Oxidizer is safe to use on all surfaces and will not damage your pool cover. With its ability to oxidize the water, this helps eliminate non-living organic contaminants. It also will not reduce the effectiveness of other chemicals used in winter closing.

Time-Release Winter Pool Floater: Dispenses a set amount of non-chlorine chemical for your pool months after its been covered. It's key in removing carbon dioxide from the water eliminating a primary food source for algae. Simply poke the holes on the floater until you reach your pool’s volume of water or gallons specified on it.

Winter Sorb: Patented non-toxic molecular foam that can absorb up to 40 times its own weight. It will soak up residual lotions, oils, and scum preventing clogging of the pool’s plumbing. Its ability to attract grime and oils allows you to toss it in the pool which will give you an even area of coverage.

Close with Confidence!

  • Kits use chlorine-free chemicals that won't stain or bleach liners & is safe for use on all pools
  • Slow-release floater keeps your pool oxidized all winter long
  • Not for use in pools on a biguanide based sanitizing system

We recommend to start winterizing the pool when the water begins to stay below 60 degrees

Clean, Balance, and Shock

Step 1 is to clean and balance the water. Make sure to skim, brush, and vacuum the pool. After the pool is clean, test the water and balance all levels to their desired ranges. Shock the pool one more time with a quick dissolving chlorinating granular (Dichlor) to help sanitize the water. Complete this process a few days before you close your pool.

Lower Water Level

Lower the water level in the pool to around 4-6 inches below the skimmer. Clean your filter to get rid of leftover debris. Take equipment indoors for the winter. For in-ground pools, the lines and plumbing need to be drained, plugged and filled with antifreeze. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for protecting your underground pool lines.

Drain and Plug Lines

Only required for in-ground pools. Close the valves and drain or blow out the lines. Plug the line with a winterizing plug. Fill the line to the skimmer with pool antifreeze. When you open your pool in the spring, you can vacuum the antifreeze or drain into the pool since it is non-toxic. Use a skimmer guard to prevent ice damage.

Cover the Pool

The final step in pool closing is to cover your pool. Take your time to install the correct type of cover for your pool. There are different types of covers such as winter covers and safety covers. Each have their own features and benefits so be sure to research which one would work best for you.
